Alka Agrawal Sigtia
Alka Agrawal Sigtia is a multifaceted individual, excelling as a journalist, writer, poet, and satirist.
Her journey in the literary realm spans over two decades, beginning with contributions to print media at a young age.
Alka’s debut in the esteemed literary magazine Sarika was followed by the publication of her poems, stories, and satires in various renowned magazines and newspapers, such as
- Jansatta,
- Dainik Bhaskar,
- Navbharat Times,
- Naveen Duniya,
- Kathakram, and
- Kahaniyan.
She has also penned columns on satire, women’s empowerment, media, and current affairs for newspapers.
Alka served as the guest editor of Sangini Patrika and contributed articles to GREAT Magazine.
In 2015, Alka’s story collection “Murde Itihaas Nahi Liikhte” garnered significant attention and acclaim in the literary circles.
Her upcoming satire collection, “Teri – Meri – Uski Bhi,” was softly launched at the World Book Fair in 2017, while poetry collections titled “Aparajita” and “Khidki Ek Nayi Si” are on the verge of release.
Eminent classical singer Padma Shri Dr. Soma Ghosh has presented Alka’s poems.
She has also contributed to the writing of episodes for Zee TV’s “Rishtey” and Doordarshan’s “Janam Samjha Karo” serials and continues to write for radio.
Alka’s creative endeavors extend beyond literature.
She made a short film celebrating the satirical writer Harishankar Parsai and played a significant role in the screenplay-dialogues of the film “Vighnaharta Siddhi Vinayak” and the full-length feature film “Adrishya.”
Her achievements in the literary arena have earned her various accolades, including-
- the ‘Vyangya Yatra Samman’ in Delhi 2016,
- the ‘Ask Society Award’ in Kanpur 2016,
- the ‘Best Rapa Serial Award’ for the All India Radio
- serial Rupak “Kahaani Bade Ghar Ki,” and
- the first prize under ‘Premchand Samman’ from the Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy for her story.
Moreover, Alka edited the compilation “Rangakalam,” a collection of the finest plays from the National Hindi Drama Writing Competition of Samhita Manch, which was showcased at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Mumbai on 16 August 2017.
To add to her accomplishments, Alka transformed the screenplay and dialogues of the film “Adrishya” into a literary work, culminating in the publication of a novel with the same name.
